A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

“Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not; and oftentimes we call a man cold when he is only sad.”

_______________________________

Kawamura Shizuka is the type of girl who lies awake at 2 in the morning thinking about that time in 3rd grade she accidentally called her teacher 'mom'.

In stark contrast, Ishihara Mai is almost too sure of herself, exuding boundless confidence even when it's clear she's in the wrong.

Despite the night-and-day difference in their worldviews, these two have somehow managed to become the best of friends, something that Shizuka is (begrudgingly) okay with...

Until she finds out that the girl who she's always thought of out-of-her-league has a crush...on who, exactly? (seriously, would it kill her to be a little less vague?!)

Like, obviously, she was never planning on confessing in the first place!!!

But now...it's almost like Mai's forcing her hand!

Featuring:

  • One t̶s̶u̶n̶d̶e̶r̶e̶ completely normal protagonist who who lives and breathes ideals that have long since gone out of style???
  • A prim and proper deuteragonist who's neither conniving nor manipulative...right?
  • More clichés and tropes than you can count on two hands (believe me, I've tried...)

A good 15 minutes before the deadline...record time, eh?

"She Already Has Someone She Likes?!" is a kinetic visual novel featuring long dramatic monologues about happiness, heroism, and also just gals being pals.

The total script is around 11k words; expected playtime is ~60 minutes. There are no CGs but there's still a gallery to be found in the main menu (I'm not smart enough to mess with the gui and change this just yet).

Content warnings: depictions of homophobia/internalized homophobia

Credits:

Character sprites: Ayase Hazuki (Candysoft - Kamidere ....pls don't stab me for this, I started writing this vn for practice and only decided to rush it for jam halfway through).

GUI is Pastel Stripes from here

Silhouettes from: here

Backgrounds: Uncle Mugen and Noraneko Games.

BGM: here

Made using the renpy engine.

Sorry, the game files are a little large... This is the first visual novel I've made so I'm a little unfamiliar with how everything works.

I really hope you enjoy the story, though!! If you did, I'd love to hear what you thought in the comments section below!

Surprisingly a very good game, the story is quite interesting and I also really like the art.

I thought the game would be just a quick 60 Minutes and then I would forget it in just a few days but I've replayed the game about 2 times.

Really enjoyed it, I will wait for other games made by you.

Thank you!!! I'm glad to hear that it became a memorable experience for you and that you even felt compelled to give it a second read!

This was good, the story and plot was pretty interesting. Pretty good game. The art was pretty too, but man I panicked when the CG's were locked and I corrupted the files and realized "Oh wait there were no CG's during the story".

Anticipating the CG's ... I want to see the ending CG quite badly, or the CG during the other scenes, please my imagination can only go so far-

anyways decent game 8/10

Not perfect, but would burn into memory willingly.

Ohoho, nice to know you'd let it take up space on both your hard drive and in your mind!

...I forgot about mentioning having left the gallery in while throwing the finishing touches and rushing to submit, hm, maybe one day this visual novel will become something more proper with CGs in all the right places.... rubs hands together maniacally next year......

Once again, thank you for playing!

This was really good especially for your first visual novel. The writing was good and i enjoyed it start to finish. I hope you continue making visual novels because you are great at it.

Thank you for all the kind words and encouragement! Happy to hear it was a pleasant experience for you!

Understanding if someone likes you can be hard. We've all seen the "Is she into you?" video by Casually Explained. It's not always straight forward. In the case of our main character, Shizuka, she's desperate to know who exactly Mai is interested in.

With well written dialogue, and back and forth's that will have you laughing, give the game a try for yourself.  The pacing was in my opinion, right where it should be. I didn't feel like I was stuck on one scene for too long. My overall play time was just over an hour, which is on par with what the description says is expected. Looking at Studio Chuunibyou's profile, I can only see this game, and I find it hard to believe this is their first work. The level of detail and quality I would put on par with someone who has already made a few novels before. I wholeheartedly recommend this game, and hope to see more like it from Chuunibyou in the future.

"I don't know, it kind of almost sounds like, and maybe I'm totally wrong here, she's talking about - and I'm gonna go out on a limb here - you. Just a thought?"

'It doesn't take a genius to figure this out'

"Apparently it does, because she's been very obvious about it."

Definitely my two favorite moments from this, thank you for taking the time to play and record this silly visual novel! Looking back, I can't believe Casually Explained's most infamous video never once crossed my mind as I was writing this....I'm definitely going to have to steal some jokes from there if I ever run out...

Glad to hear you enjoyed reading their banter as much as I did writing it!
